Isn't it interesting that TIME seems to assume that, if you're concerned about Y2K, you must believe that either the world will end, Jesus will return, or there will be a world war next year. I was surprised to see that nearly half expect a world war, though the great majority are optimistic. War as entertainment?

Bill, I noticed the "slant" towards sensationalism in that poll, too. They're probably looking for fuel for a "kooky millennialists" story. I detest the fact that most polls are geared to get a certain kind of response beforehand.

I did find the "most important event of the last millennium" question interesting, though. I picked the invention of the printing press. I don't think the world would have gotten much of anywhere without it, including inventing the light bulb.

Rick, did you notice how I desperately managed to get in some reference to electricity? I promise I'll try to be good now and stick to the subject matter. Also won't blame you if you delete this thread later - I just couldn't resist putting in a plug for books and reading! Hope your road trip went well and you'll soon have lots of things to tell us.
