Digital to VHS tape

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am using the Kodak DC210, and love it. I am getting a large collection of photos and would like to create a "multimedia" presentation on VHS tape. Is there an accessory to be bought that would allow a slide show (from power point or ULEAD software) to be recorded on tape as it is shown on a monitor ? Also could music from a CD also be recorded at the same time ?

Thanks, Ted

Get an ATI Expert@play video card. It has both ntsc video and S video output that will mirror the monitor.

i did almost exactly what you are wanting to do about a year ago. i put a slide show type presentation together with music and sound bytes from the net onto vhs video tape. you basically need to get some type of scan converter hardware and a software package to put your pics and music together.

i bought the iomega buzz for $200 about a year ago. worked pretty good. it includes the hardware and software you need to do it all. requires an open port for a scsi card though. creates very large video files though. my main complaint would be the resolution to the video, but what can you expect for $200. also the 'production' time to make the video files is pretty long (can take a couple of hours). the video i made was seen by over a couple hundred people and everyone thought it was great and done by a professional, so maybe i am being too critical. in fact i got three requests to make other videos for $$$.

i also looked at different video cards to do the same thing, but did not want to make a change to my system which already was working great. since getting the buzz hardware, i have seen another hardware/software package touting that it was better but can not remember the name (sorry). try a search on the net for 'scan converters' and see what else is out there.

in fact i am about to start making two more videos now using the buzz again. good luck!
