Dream Vacation

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Hawaii : One Thread

Hawaii has always been my dream vacation(especially now that is freezing in Pennsylvania) I have really only experienced it through TV or photos. Is it really as beautiful as it seems? Do the people who live there appreciate the beauty? My daughter wants to know if people who live there REALLY wear those flowered shirts or just the tourists?

Your note cards certainly seem as though they share the beauty of Hawaii!

Thanks tami

To me it seems even more beautiful as I spent my college days in the cold mid-west. The winters of Ohio definitely made me appreciate what a beautiful place Hawaii is (I think that's what happens to a lot of people who leave the islands and get homesick 8(((

Tell your daughter yes people do really wear those flowered shirts and dresses. The aloha shirts and muumuus are pretty much the standard white collar attire. About the only people you see in suits and ties are attorneys going to court or sales people and professionals from the mainland---at least you know who to avoid ;))). It used to be only Aloha Friday in which you could dress causal, but now it is pretty much an accepted practice to wear aloha shirts and muumuus.

If you want to see some live shots, take a look at these and if you'd like others do a search for "live cams in Hawaii".

Remember the 5 hour time difference from Pennsylvania ;)
