Floppy disk media converters usable in Mavica?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

This probably does not work, but I was wondering if, since the Sony Mavica's use floppies, and the floppy adapters for "chip" media in digital cameras can fool your pc into thinking it's a real floppy disk, when in fact it is the adapter with the media inserted, well...can't it also fool the Mavica (resulting in faster access times, and greater storage). If not, why the hell not? IT would be one great feature, no?

Sorry for not answering this sooner (BAD computer crash around here recently!) - Unfortunately, the media adapters require special driver software, to tell the floppy's head to stay in the same place all the time, rather than stepping track-to-track. Too back, it would be pretty slick! (Sony's much more likely to put a high-density floppy in the next generation, with 200 megabytes or so, or to come out with a design using their much-touted "memory stick.")
