Help! K2500RS w/ KDFX os freezes!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Kurzweil Users : One Thread

I am at my wits end here. Ever since my KDFX was installed, I have been experiencing "freezes" that force me to shut down for a while. Usually if I wait until the next day, it's ok, but this is unacceptable. I took the unit up to the authorized service center in Portland, OR, and they charged me $130 to basically tell me that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They did a reinstall, but obviously it didn't work. Anybody else had similar problems? I have my unit on for several days at a time when I'm working, so that puts some strain on it, but I never had a crash before KDFX.

Thanks in advance,

I've experienced many problems since the KDFX install, including having my K2500 un-operational for 4 months, and still get "freezes" during data transfers. Make sure the PAL replacement chip has been installed, and that the latest OS has been installed as well. It may help to re-intall the OS. The KDFX still seems to have some bugs, and we should all keep on top of Kurzweil until it works well. I'm going to call them today.

I ahd this exact same thing happen on my K2500XS. I brought it to the local authorized Kurz service center, and $450 and several transistor replacements later it still did the same thing. I sent it to Sweetwater, and a couple days later was told the KDFX unit was bad. It was still under warantee, so I now have a fully function system. I've left it on for over 4 days in a row - no problemo!
