What Will Happen Now? {to the phenomenon}

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

Well the hype and hysteria are over. The young girls who made TITANIC rise to the top are all interested in something else now, as expected. Also as expected those who truly loved the story of Titanic before the movie came out are the only ones still interested after interest in the movie faded away. Some, including myself, have found themselves more interested in movies like SOS TITANIC and A NIGHT TO REMEMBER than in the Cameron film. Even though they are at times historically inaccurate, they are based 100% on the truth as it was known at that time and not on some fictitious love story that was so long and drawn out that historical scenes of great value had to be dropped from the film just to make room for two people who never lived. Anyway, as I have experienced the continual loss of former friends who now hate those who are still interested in the Titanic, I was wondering how and where those who are like me can stay in touch? Is there an internet chat site for people who still want to talk about Titanic? Any other options? I have AOL and Bell Atlantic. AOL's Titanic room rarely has more than three people in it (I can remember the days when you couldn't get in because it was so full) and I have not found an internet TITANIC chat yet that has anyone in it. Does anyone have any information they can pass along? Thanks.

Response to What Will Happen Now?

Hello Ed:

If you are seriously interested in the Titanic history and discussion of same, I highly recommend Mark Taylor's list. There you will find some very informed people ranging from the novice to seasoned historians. This site is not about the movie but about the old girl herself and there can be some very interesting and sometimes contoversial, threads. I have been on it about a year now but it has been around for many years. If you want to review past posts you can go to their archive at

http://www.escribe.com/history/td/

The actual subscription site is:

http://www.silverquick.com/titanic.htm

There are many sites but this is a good one (as is this site). There are many nice people there that are very willing to help in any way. Make sure you read the rules of the list though, because they are enforced and that is the way it should be. Hope this helps.

Regards, Peter
