Silver Lining in TEOTWAWKI

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I need something to look foreward to. How would our lives improve should TEOTWAWKI occur? Taking a long term outlook, I can think of a few benifits and these are:

1. The sorry circus would end in the nation's capitol.

2. People would become more responsible.

3. Trial lawyers would diminish in numbers to a more sufferable level.

4. The quality of education would greatly improve.

5. Self-service brain frying would end.

6. Highways would become litter free.

7. People will again learn to interact and communicate with each other and help each other.

8. Intelligence, hard work and self-reliance would again be respected and rewarded. Therefore the parasites of society will greatly diminish in number.

Can anyone else think of other possible long term benifits?

Getting rid of ALL THE LAWYERS alone will solve most of the worlds problems. Heck the lawyers are the ones that wrote the oppresive laws that we live under today. They are the most hated group behind used car salesmen in this country according to 60 minutes. Could you imagine the world without conquering attorneys. Honesty and integrity would come back to the world. God & the golden rule would rein. Attorneys contribute NOTHING. They are no more then parisites that suck the life blood from the world. I'm sure one will post and remind us of authoring the constitution or some bull like that but in 1776 their was integrity and honesty fighting the Monarchys oppresion in which the attorneys now days are reciprocating on the masses. In 1776 they would have hung most of the attorneys today. THEY ARE EVIL PURE AND SIMPLE EVIL LIVING IN THE BELLY OF THE BEAST, THEY ARE SATINS MESSENGERS. EVIL TO THE DEPTHS OF THEIR SOULS.

youknowwho,

My sister is a lawyer and she's a very nice person. Not an evil bone in her body. She works on immigration law, mostly stuff like programmers coming from other countries to do remediation projects, visas for business people, and the occasional politcal asylum.

Getting rid of assholes like you with your stupid generalizations would be the first step to take towards making the world a better place.

Have a shitty day.

face it bro she is a parisite like the rest. If attorneys did not write the laws that she is fighting, there would be no need for her to suck cash from someone trying to get to this country. She was genetically pre-programmed by lucifer to be a parasite just like the rest.

I heard of a lawyer who was killed by a car last week while crossing the street. The driver of the car decided to miss hitting a skunk instead.

a, only asshole types like those above make lawyer types that they themselves hate. Ironic, isn't it? Don't worry, they'll go first with TEOTWAWKI, people like these tend to shoot at each other in hard times.

Who cares if your sister is a lawyer and she doesn't have an evil bone in her body! Get real! You mean she's better than Mother Theresa? Why doesn't she get a real job? We don't want or need anymore immigrants in this country. They screw and bred like rats, they drain our vital resources, they take up my breathing space, and the belong right where they came from! I own a bumper sticker that says "Welcome to the United States, Now Go Home!"

Add me to the list of lawyer haters. They will be hunted down and exterminated in my opinion. In fact I will be the first one if asked to put one right between their eyes.

I like lawyers, actually.

Lawyers are like the gunslingers of the old west. They protect ordinary folks from the bad guys (the government, people who want to sue you, etc.). Maybe _you_ are knowledgeable enough and eloquent enough to defend yourself, but I am REALLY glad I can hire a mercenary to fight for me. This is a precious right - in a completely totalitarian government I wouldn't be able to.

Of course, mercenaries do whatever someone wants to pay them for, so sometimes they do bad things for evil people.

Y2Kbiker, that was a very poor analogy because:

We have 10 to 20+ times the number of lawyers than other "developed" countries.

Unlike one bullet, one can law ricochet around one country for years and injure millions of people.

Lawyers have traumatized me more than WWII and its subsequent starvation. I would have prefered one bullet.

To taste this trauma see first posting at: http://greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=000Lrr

True that if there's too many mercs around they will tend to cause trouble. But why are there so many? Maybe because people want or need them? Someone must be paying them.

>Unlike one bullet, one can law ricochet around one country for years >and injure millions of people.

Certainly too many laws are a bad thing, but many lawyers don't make laws. They try to prove that people have or have not broken existing ones. Laws are made by judges and politicians (who may also be lawyers, but you can't blame all lawyers for that)

I read some of your stories. You're full of shit in more ways than one.

Actually, lawyers have caused me some trouble, but it was really the fault of the govenment that hired them.

y2kbiker,

U said: "... Laws are made by judges and politicians."

More than 1/2 of politicians in D.C. are lawyers.

P.S. I WAS in it, you WILL be in it. Bon appettit!

I assume, red, that this means you are an American Indian. I assume that your ancestors did not immigrate to this continent from somewhere else in search of a better life. Is that the case? Sure, immigration needs to be controlled. That's what the "evil" lawyers are doing. Don't even try to make rational arguements. You don't have the brains for it. Why don't you just go back to where you came from?
