Answers

Oregon Public Networking, formerly known as the Eugene Free Net, is developing a web page for local Y2k awareness. Please visit it and e-mail the webmaster of your interest in Y2k.

Last January, OPN sponsored the beginnings of the Eugene Y2k Ready User's Group. At that time, they began the listservs for Y2k awareness that we are currently using in the area.

The group led to a Power Forum in February, 1998, in which Rick Cowles of electric utilities' forum came to speak to our utilities about the precarious state of utility awareness earlier this year.

Since then, action on Y2k has been building slowly but steadily. If you have energy, funds or time to offer to OPN to assist others in our community who are solving for Y2k, please contact them. OPN is a natural focus for the technical aspects of Y2k.
