I don't know but I wish it could be set that way all the time. I have had more than my share of out-of-focus photos in the defalt mode.

The answer to that question is very easy. We DC260 owners have the flexibility to write scripts for the camera thanks to the digita operating system. Go to www.trix.com/dc260/faq.html#3.samples-long. This is Steve's web page for the DC260. All the way at the bottom of the page Steve has some scripts to download. Download "startup.csm" and follow the installation directions. You will then be able to -save- all of the parameters, including the ones such as focus mode that defult to factory settings once you power off. This startup script is sort of like a Autoexe for DOS. DOS, who in the world remembers that?

On the other hand, I've always used the multi-spot focusing and have not experienced any out of focus pictures that I considered were the fault of the camera. Taking good pictures is not just something you go out and get good at in a couple of days. That applies even more so when using a digital camera.
