SAL Atlas 3 pack

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I was looking through a catalog today for the first time, and I noticed a product that I did not know about and no had mentioned and was wondering was it a misprint. This catalog had a SAL 3 pack of 2 boxcars and a caboose. I have inquired the accuracy of this to the Atlas email address but have no reply. Its long distance to use the information line to this company so I am wondering have any of you guys seen an Atlas 3 pack in SAL.

Those not produced three packs are alive and well on my layout. They contain a wide-cupola caboose,70 ton two bay covered hopper and a 100 ton three bay barrel hopper with billboard lettering. The biggest problem that you will have is to add a roof walk to the caboose. All in all a nice addition to SAL rolling stock. BTW Kaydee has the 40' SAL box car available.

These 3 car sets were available earlier this fall at Riverdale Station in Atlanta (770) 991-6085 and National Hobby Supply in Atlanta (800)437-2736 They had a few sets in the last couple of weeks.

I have seen a photograph of the Atlas HO SAL three-pack in one of the model railroad or hobby shop magazines: one extended vision cupola caboose, one cylindrical Center Flow covered hopper (in a different lettering scheme than the one Atlas produced earlier), one two-bay PS-2 covered hopper.

The Atlas SAL 3-pack is one 3 bay hopper, one 2 bay hopper, one caboose. It has not been produced yet. I am looking for the set my self.
