Japanese & exported models, name equivalencies

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hello,

I have been looking for a mid-range digital camera in Tokyo, but I'm having a difficult time correlating various English camera reviews with Japanese models.

Does anyone know of a source to find equivalencies listed? I'm most interested in the Olympus 320 and 340 (US) and the 840 and 900 (Japan).

I tried calling Epson's phone support here in Japan to ask about scanner equivalencies (I have been looking at the GT-7000 similarities to the Perfection636.) They said there is NO equivalency. They are different products.

Any help or links would be most appreciated.

I *believe* the 840 is the same as the 340 in the US, and the 900 is the same as the 400 Zoom. Don't hold me to the 840/340 equivalency though!
