Digital camera with internal GPS

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Does anyone know if any other manufacturers aside from Kodak offer a digital camera with built-in GPS capabilities? I'm looking for a product that will stamp the image with date/time/lat/long as well as stream out the coordinate data to a PC's serial port.

Any pointers on hardware or software solutions appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Joel

Don't know of any other cameras with built-in GPS, but there may be hybrid solutions to be found with laptop or palmtop computers. I seem to recall that there was an outfit that was combining Agfa digicams with Windows CE palmtops. Sorry, don't have details, but I think they were in Southern California someplace. Agfa might be able to point you in the right direction. - Also, check Kodak's web site, they have a broad range of third-party solutions represented, some of which might include a hybrid approach like this. Finally, there's all the GPS internet sites. If you're a Mac type, Karen Nakamura has a great GPS web site, at www.gpsy.com. Even for non-Mac, she had a pretty good GPS-related links page.
