Snowy in Florida

We don't have much snow in Florida but we have lots of Snowy Egrets. N70, sigma 400, Gold 100, scan from 4x6 print

Don't you think the bird is a tad over-exposed? There is no detail on it's back.

i agree, that the bird is overexposed. How did you meter it?

I'll bet the original has the detail and is not overexposed. You cannot expect too much from a scan directly from a print as opposed to the original film (slide or neg). Personally I feel the image is a little too cramped. I would like to see a little of the birds surroundings. I would include a little more to the right to balance out the bird staring into that space. My eye wanders right and straight out of the frame.

I agree the picture seems a little "cramped." The posture of the bird and the top of the frame make it appear that the egret is ducking to fit into the frame. A little more space to the right of the frame could help, too.
