Oglethorpe Power Company - Intergrated Transmission System?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

Please forgive me if this is off topic. My local EMC receives its power from Oglethorpe Power Company. I went to that site and could find nothing on y2k at all. They did have a section about Intergrated Transmission Systems. They do say that ITS enables them to prepare for many emergencies, including terrorist action. I am including the url if anyone is willing to read this. My concern is that we called our local EMC and when we asked if they were y2k compliant their response was "Do what?" (a southern slang expression for 'what are you talking about?'). They put us on hold then came back and said they "...had it covered." Not very reassuring!

Dian,

Your question was most certainly "on topic" - welcome to the forum! After visiting Oglethorpe's website, I can certainly see why you were disappointed - it doesn't seem as if their website has been updated since 1997...

You can find some details on Oglethorpe's Y2k program at:

http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/788816/0001047469-98-041098.txt

After getting to the above SEC 10Q filing webpage, you'll have to scroll down the page a bit, but there's a great deal of Y2k information there - unfortunately, most of it is not terribly enlightening.

Hope this helps.
