My little surprise... {about the composer for 'Deep Impact'}

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

Call it maybe a little gift for the "Titanic" 1 year anniversary... I watched yesterday "Deep Impact," w/o having any information about the movie, except for knowing the main idea in the movie. As I was unaware of the details, I could not avoid noticing similarities between the music in "Titanic" and this movie. Now, I've seen many movies and heard many soundtracks in my life, but the music in these two movies was, I felt, so interchangeable. I heard the music in "Deep Impact" and I felt I was watching either the sinking of Titanic, or the song when Jack was drawing Kate. Of course, I did not know that James Horner was responsible for the music in this movie, too. So imagine my surprise when I saw his name at the end of the movie. I surely felt his style throughout the entire movie. What a relief it was when I saw his name... I confess I must have a special sense, maybe derived from common sense, maybe "I see people" and things. Sometimes I even have premonitions. I even predicted that Clinton would be impeached only on two articles, but that's another story of which I think we all had enough... See you tonight...

Response to My little surprise...

Mr. Draghici,

I don't want to burst your bubble (eww - that sounded chintzy), but plenty of people predicted that the President would be impeached (thank god!) on two articles. Such people included political analysts like Jeff Greenfield, columnists such as George F. Will and William F. Buckley, and others like Senator Trent Lott, Senator Arlen Specter, H. Ross Perot, and President Bush. It wasn't exactly a NEW thing. The question, of course, was WHICH two articles would be voted. Personally, I think they chose the right ones (they don't have to discuss oral sex on the Senate floor and there's no question about what "abuse of power" means). Well, enough of that.

Response to My little surprise...

Niles,

I was actually speaking about my common sense. About the impeachment I only want to add that I am not American (though I lived in America for two years), not even Canadian citizen yet, nor am I a political analyst and I certainly have not followed the story step by step. Therefore, I don't have neither the legislative knowledge, nor the interest to make scientific predictions as the people you quoted before. I made a guesstimate and was happy about the way my ignorance paid off. That's all... Anyway, my posting was intended to be about James Horner's music and less about Clinton. I shouldn't have brought the secondary story up.

Response to My little surprise...

Rose,

I don't care about Clinton (i.e. what HAPPENS to him), but I do care about the situation. There's your answer - I care. :)
