Kodak DC260greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread |
Hello...I am looking to purchase a digital camera for a Mac user/graphic designer. So far, all of my research (including pricing) is pointing to the Kodak DC260 and the Nikon CoolPix 900. I have read that there are many problems with transfereing images to the Mac with the Nikon, any suggestions? Also, I like Kodak's resolution....its what makes the difference as a designer. Before I decide which one to buy, I'd like more professional input. Thanks

My dc260 page is linked to another page of My pics on Geocities. You can see clearly the 260's strengths & weaknesses. If you are even thinking about shooting small objects- think about another camera. The 260 CAN take good pics- getting them can be a frustrating experience, however. The autofocus is awful, & manual focus is problematic.. Also, a wealth of odd-looking artifacts are always present, due to the camera's high .jpg compression ratio. (Which kodak will not even aknowledge, never mind do anything to fix.) The Nikon cp900 does take _MUCH_ better pics, But is a poor design- The swivel lens is prone to breaking off & there's no twain interface for photoshop... Jump over to My dc260 page & check out some un- retouched full size sample pics... If you're inclined, check out My "Rancid Vat"- A gallery of My digital artwork.. Many of My images incorporate dc260 shots.
Hope this helps.
