Downloading from camera faster (Olympus D340L)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have a Olympus D340L. Love it! Anyway, is there a way to download pictures from the camera to the PC other than the provided software or a flashpath adapter? (The provided software is bulky and I do not want to have to reload software on every computer I see when I travel.) I am curious as to whether there is a simple program available that can download pictures - maybe something I could carry on a floppy disk?

Sorry, all the research I've found says you have to use a program. Personally, I'm getting one of these for Christmas and I want to know if the flashpath is worth getting or is the serial good enough? I have a 400P and going crazy with this decision. If you find a simpler way, let me know. I'm interested too.!

I just spoke with Olympus. The program they provide actually can be run as a stand-alone. It all fits on one disk (you can get it on their site). You do need Windows 95/NT to run it though. To download to a 3.1 machine, you need a PCMIA (or whatever) adapter or a flashpath floppy adapter (which aparently can have some trouble with laptops.
