Y2K guarantee?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Received this in a statement from my credit union- "Y2K Update--Just a reminder that "credit union" is still focusing our attention on being Year 2000 compliant by the time the calendar changes next year. All systems are right on track for conversion to the Year 2000." If, I lose my whole account WTSHTF, does this have a loophole for them? Are they basically guaranteeing nothing? Couldn't I say they said they would be ready, so I didnt take my money out, therefore, for example, now I can sue?

The paper in your hand is worth more than any word written on it!

You'll be on the same "Titanic" as the rest of us ... Bill Gates, Forbes, H Ross Perot, et al ...

Doesn't that sound good? Poetic and ironic justice for all!

The only Y2K guarantee that I'd put any faith in is that 01012000 will arrive barring acts of God (and man). If the courts are still extant in 2000, I wouldn't put $.02 on not having a Y2K moratorium to prevent total plug up of the (in)justice system. On the other hand, lawyers are the ones who would win, and they write the laws...

Nathan,

I get the same type of mail from my banks, utility company and phone company. All you can do is take measures to protect yourself. It will be interesting to see what their mail says the closer we get to 2000.
