Immature Bald Eagle on Beach

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

Taken on the beach by the Holgate cabin in Kenai Fjords National Park. This bird was eating a fish carcass amazingly close to where people were landing kayaks and doing stuff on the beach. I grabbed my camera and tripod and shot a roll of film. This picture was taken just before the eagle took off.

Pentax ZX-5, FA* 300mm f4.5, wide open at about 1/500 on Provia 100. Bogen 3001, 3262QR ballhead, and 3240 (?) long lens support.

Nice shot Mark. Good pose and sharp. Too bad the upper rock couldn't be cropped out. Looks like this guy is just about to get his adult feathers.
