Lotus flower in B&W:

Film: Ilford HP5+ / 4X5 View camera. 1/250@f-22. This is part of the same series of color lotus flowers that you have seen before. The image detail looks better if viewed in a darker room.

wonderful exposure technique; when cropped to my taste (two inches off the top) it is a very pleasing image.

Very nice lighting.

Nice details and composition. You've got an exqusite amount of detail in both the (non specular) highlight area and the upper leaf in shadow.

Care to pontificate on your metering technique? Did you do any custom development in the darkroom?

Best regards,

Keith

I disagree utterly with the suggestion to crop. Well into the top 5% of images I've seen here. A little more shadow detail would be nice, but would be challenging to obtain without losing the 'white silk on black velvet feel.

I'd really like to see your best print. This could be a phenomenal contact print on a really rich, neutral paper; its graphical strength, makes enlargement neat but, frankly, unnecessary. Wonderful!
