Damn, I was hoping it was true.

I don't like North. He's an extremist. I spoke to two people about y2k, they went online. Came across North's site. Went from possible GIs to DWGIs because they didn't want to be in the same basket as North.

I am a man with great respect for freedom of speech. I think Jim deserves a trial first and a chance to present his evidence. Congress has given Mr. Clinton two days to present his defense, I'd like to offer another post to Jim as a chance to clarify his assertion and offer his own evidence.

Am I being too fair? This power is all very new to me : )

Leo, anyone who would shift back to a DGI because they came across Gary North's site, was probably a very weak "GI" in the first place! North presents a very pessimistic view (which I largely subscribe to), and one which is possible. How probable is another question, and I think that most people on this forum tend to think the probability is low that North's scenarios -- which typically is of the form, "Well, this fails, so this happens, then this will happen, so these people will starve to death, so then this happens, ..." -- will actually come to pass. But anyone honestly trying to approach the Y2K issue would be making a big mistake not to read, understand, then make their own decisions about North's arguments.

Jack you're absolutely right. But so is Leo. Gary North DOES turn off possible GI's, like it or not. You and I, who've been here a long time, know that Gary points to very valuable links and we know to just disregard his comments if we're not of his idealistic penchants, but to the very fragile might-get-might-not, he's too caustic of an extremist.

What americans seem to not realize is that our constitution and the freedom it allows is gone with the wind.The Federal government couldnt care less about freedom.
