Ocean solitaire After reading this article i felt very frustrated with the fact that our world has no conscience. In the fishing industry the initial advancements of technoology were to catch more fish;but eventually a cover up for depleting fish resources. These advancements in technology were able to make up for our depleting fisheries. When this did not work, then we went to fish farms to help keep up with the demand. But now we have to make food for these fish instead of the fish feeding naturally. It seems that we as humans can always get around a roadblock even if it means sacrificing something else.I hope that it never gets to a point where the roadblock is impassable.

Learning in the key of life

One of the key points of this article was what a culture considers most important.Such as religion, family,or education.Education is avery difficult thing because of our multiethnic society. The needs of our society are so widespread that it would be hard to label and focus on a single one.Ifeel this article relates to the "ocean solitaire"article. We use "fast knowledge"that is our information society. There also is"slow knowledge"which is a particular ecological and cultural content. We use to much of the "fast knowledge".We should use more of the "slow knowledge".The fast is something that can be done quickly but the slow would be what we consider ethical. This is what i thought was the main point of the article on fish,it was speed and production they were worried about not the ethics of fishing.

Hello Tim: Your comments here are fascinating. Could you explain in more detail what you mean by the concept "slow knowledge"? It appears that you are on to something of value here. Thanks, John
