Empowered support group teamsgreenspun.com : LUSENET : work teams : One Thread
We are two years into converting to empowered work teams. We started with our production employees and after March, 1999 will have all production employees on empowered teams. We are now wondering how to incorporate the support groups (Maintenance, Set-up, Tool Room, Accounting, H.R., Purchasing, etc., etc.) into the existing teams or into their own teams. In addition to the structural questions there are, of course, the dreaded compensation questions!
We manufacture thermoset composites (fancy plastics!) in Ohio and Michigan and have a total workforce of 600.
