greenspun.com : LUSENET : M.Ed./Extension Forums at UMD : One Thread

My intention here is to submit a contract for a grade of "A"

To meet the Criteria for a "B" I will complete:

 ALL of the "C" requirements , plus  Read additional text(s) or other materials 1. "The Decline of Rural Minnesota" by Joseph Amato and John W. Meyer and/or 2. "Community - A Different Biography" edited by Eileen Zuber, Steve Nelson and A.E. Luloff and/or 3. Professional articles and web sites related to Rural education issues and alternatives.

To meet the Criteria for an "A" I will:

 Participate in a local community project.

The people living in the Herman-Norcross school district need to make a decision about the future of their school. The administrative staff at the school has requested the assistance of the University in their decision making. The project will include stakeholders from throughout the community with a high priority on youth involvement. The timeframe for the project is now through mid-late March. My role is to provide coordination and logistics between participating groups.

I will utilize information from the listed reading materials in preparing for my involvement in this project.

I will document the project, including a complete description of the program, insights, end result, evaluations, and a final written report.

I know we have talked about this already. This is exactly the kind of cross-community work and effort we were hoping these projects would initiate and/or document. Ill be really interested to hear what you learned by it all after its in progress. Im always interested to hear how groups who arent typically leaders or activists (often the youth...or the poor...or the less educated) become leaders and activists. Good luck.
