Jim, the answer to your question depends on the premise an individual is proceeding from. If they are under the impression or opinion that there will not be a power outage because the fixes will be done in time, then seeing to it that their own PC's are compliant is logical. If someone is proceeding from a belief that there will be a power outage, they would also have to believe that outage would be a prolonged one in order to have no interest in fixing their personal computer. Power surge protection for all electrical appliances has also been discussed on other threads in this forum. And, of course, some people have outfitted themselves with alternate power sources - solar or otherwise - which may provide power to run a PC if they choose.

Jim, There is something else to consider also. Some of us have plans to provide alternate power generation when (if) the power grid fails. The only source of alternate generation is not a fossil fueled generator you know. Personally I am setting up a steam back up just in case (does'nt run out of gas). Also some of us do more than play games and surf the Internet with our PC's. If I am going to prepare with supplies for a shortage period, I will need to track my inventory (database), might want to keep a spreadheet as well. Also I have stocked up on paper for the printer and intend to write. Just a few reasons for fixing that computer even if the power fails. Steve
