Why does the BCCT charge for obituaries?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Courier Times Online Feedback : One Thread

Something has been bothering me for a long time now. My father passed away 3 years ago and the BCCT is the only paper of the 5 that his obit was listed in that charged a fee. I was mad then, but my mother recently passed and it was the same thing. I have talked to quite a few people and no one had ever heard of being charged for this service. WHY?????

My parents were long time subscribers to your paper. Is this what you consider customer service? Even in death it appears your interest lies in money. I think it is a disgrace.
