Decision to buy Kodak or Mavica

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I'm trying to decide what digital camera to buy. I like the Mavica 91, having owned two Mavicas previously. However, I also want to print the photos I take in newsletters and calendars. The 640 pixel Mavicas that I own won't do the job. Moreover, I wonder if the Mavica 91 at 1024 pixels will be adequate, especially since the Kodak 260 is a 1536 pixel camera.

Another angle is convenience. The floppy disk routine with the Mavica makes replacing storage media a snap. I wonder what is entailed in replacing media in a Kodak 260.

I'll be indebted to anyone who wants to take a try to help me.

I think you described the tradeoff accurately. You just have to decide if the higher image quality of the Kodak is worth it to you. Why don't you try printing some sample Kodak images in the applications where you'd normally use a digital image and see if you appreciate the difference.
