This is a very hard shot for me to juge. I love the contrast of the orange and blue. I wish the blue horizon were even. The "low" posture of the heron looks awkward yet it somewhat suits the wide framing. I think that by cropping down 25% from the top would better balance the blue and orange and place the heron better.

the sharpness of the heron combined with the color and softness of the rusty background make me really like this image. the water (?) at the bottom of the frame is distracting, and when i crop it out the background fades to dark at top and bottom- balancing out the shot beautifully. i wish i had shot this image because if i did i would crop it, print it and hang it on the wall. greg

To me this would look best cropped to square or slightly vertical proportions, cutting a sliver off the right and quite a bit off the left.
