Casio QV-5000SX vs QV-7000SX

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I know the Casio QV-7000SX has not been reviewed yet. However, I wanted to know if anyone new the differences in photo quality versus the QV-5000SX

I'm considering the Casio because I like the results in the Comparometer, specifically the whites, colors, & detail. Other cameras (including more expensive brands) seem to "yellow" or "blue" the pictures & pick up less detail.

Does the QV-7000SX get the same color & clarity as the QV-5000SX? I was concerned they might have changed the image chip.

Also, for those who have tried both, I'd like to know your comments on any other improvements over the older version.

Thanks.......JOHN

Hang on, we'll (finally) have our QV-7000 review and images up by Friday. Resolution appears as good or better, there are some differences in color balance. I think it's the same chip for the CCD, but the white-balance algorithms are modified. (Overall though, if you like the 5000, I think you'll like the 7000 too.) If nothing *else* comes up, we should have the QV-7000 up by Friday PM, or sometime Saturday at the latest. (That's 12/5 or 12/6)

I too am very interested in the QV-7000SX. Some of the items that were not good in the 5000 have been "fixed" in the 7000, such as: (1) 5000 didn't have removable memory, 7000 has CompactFlash; (2) 7000 has swivel lens. I am really looking forward to the review.
