Pitney Bowes Postage Meters Y2K Compliant?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

My sister sent me a little flyer from Pitney Bowes that says "Good News! Your Pitney Bowes postage meter* and the mailing machine it sits on (if you have one) ARE Year 2000 Compliant. (see definition on reverse side) *While our mechanical postage meters (5300 Series and 5700 Series) are Year 2000 Compliant, the U.S. Postal Service has decertified these models in favor of newer technology, so they must be replaced with electronic systems. Please contact your local Pitney Bowes office if you have any questions.

Pitney Bowes Definition of "Year 2000 Compliance"

To insure proper and uniterrupted operation of our equipment into the next century, the "Year 2000 Compliance" of all Pitney Bowes Inc., products will be defined as meeting the following critiera: Whether a product provides 2 or 4 digit representations of years for operator display, reports and external communication interfaces, all date processing functions of the product (e.g. date, comparisons, sorts, calculations, leap year calculations) will operate correctly across the year 2000 boundary.
