The American counterpart of the Chinese Red Guard is being established by many of your children. Can Y2K troubles be musch worse?

The American equivalent of the Chinese Red Guard?

Please elaborate.

-- Leo (, November 20, 1998.

Maybe it's just me. Sometimes I feel like this forum gets test questions--just to see whether or not we're all a bunch of gun- carrying survivalists planning to move to Idaho or Montana...

-- Kevin (, November 20, 1998.

Actually, THEY are just testing our knees.

-- Chuck a Night Driver (, November 20, 1998.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I will say this about society collapsing though...sure it is. Always has been and always will. Let's say someone in 19th century East Coast America saw what is going on today, they would say "Our society is collapsing!". Well yes it would be. And someday out society will collapse into another and so on and so forth.

I doubt that is what the question baiter was looking for, but that is an opinion I have held for a long time.

-- Rick Tansun (, November 20, 1998.

Kevin, those people will mostly be found on the Gary North forums. Getting flames for not being extremist enough.

-- Leo (, November 20, 1998.

Our kids are being trained as militia? Sounds like some of the groups in Montana to me. Maybe we should ban home schooling?

-- Paul Davis (, November 20, 1998.

I don't know how many people who post here have guns, but it is not a crime to own guns so where's the test? There's millions and millions of gun owners in the United States, even criminals have guns. The militia are here in America because they can be. Our country is a melting pot for every group (good or bad) you can think of. Know anyone high up in the government who is a socialist, liar, adulterer, likes to go duck hunting and smoke cigars, and has sold secrets to the Red Chinese? Where's the crime?

-- bardou (, November 20, 1998.

What could be the midset of the nation's children who have to be guarded during their school hours? .

-- . (.@...), November 20, 1998.

There's no crime in owning a gun--it's a constitutional right. All I'm saying is, be pragmatic about what you choose to discuss about your preparation plans. Always assume this forum is being read by persons trying to control public panic.

Ever hear of J. Edgar Hoover?

-- Bobbi (, November 20, 1998.

OFF-Topic really.......but....

Please forgive previous posting by mistake (darn "enter" key)!

>Someone wrote: "Our kids are being trained as militia? Sounds like >some of the groups in Montana to me. Maybe we should ban home >schooling?"

No. Our kids are being trained by our own government. Think about it. We have more rules and stupid laws in this country to protect "the innocent" people, than Carter has pills (if you're too yound you won't know about Carter's pills). Home schooling is what I would do now if my kids were of school age (now they are grown-ups). I definitely would. I would do it at the expense of almost anything else! No way would I send my kids to our school system now. It's scarey. Kids are being taught by our "administrators/schools/the dreaded "they", to report their parents for "abuse" etc. Laws to wear helmets while riding bicycles (DUMB). Do you need your government to tell you how to raise your kids? Laws for this and that......and on and on. Here in NY state there's a law to turn on your headlights when it's raining! How assinine. Like we are too stupid to figure things out for ourselves. We have allowed our government to intrude into our private lives way too much. Well...enough of a starting rant on my part. This topic makes me steam. Bobbi

-- Bobbi (, November 20, 1998.

I fully agree with you Bobbi. Sometimes I think if I hear one more person say: "There oughta be a law..." I'll find a nice bell tower somewhere and feel inclined to start thinning the herd. All the fear that is broadcast from every actual and symbolic loudspeaker...fear this, fear that,...we need this protection, that protection...To be fully human is to live with risk, and big daddy govt or the church or any invisible guys in the sky cannot take that away.

Oooh...gotta stop that,...I'll start ranting, and it gives me heartburn.

-- Donna Barthuley (, November 20, 1998.

Kevin: Maybe you are right, maybe we shouldn't talk about storing up food, water, bartering items, or anything that may help someone. Let's all keep looking over our shoulders, peep out our windows, check our telephones for wire taps, and go around the block 10 times to make sure no one is following you when you come home. Get rid of those Lucky, Safeway, Costco and Sams club cards. Your name is recorded, they know what you are buying and how much you spend. Be careful who you talk to about your plans, especially family members and friends. They will be the first to turn you in to the authorities. The goverment will reward snitches. Don't subscribe to any gun or survival magazines, the government will confiscate mailing lists and will come looking for you. You have to be very careful from this day forward. They are watching you, they know where you live, the know everything about you.

-- bardou (, November 20, 1998.

Be pragmatic about what you choose to disclose about your preparation plans.

-- Kevin (, November 20, 1998.

I just have this gut feeling (paranoia?) about some of the questions that have been asked on this forum lately. It's like...questions being asked, not to get an answer, but to see what the most extreme reactions are.

-- Kevin (, November 20, 1998.

Me three Kevin.

Me three indeed. I must be getting "overload" myself, since I too am kinda wondering about this.

Nothing you can really touch or point to - it's just THERE.

Get the feeling that you're a lab rat?

-- sweetolebob (La) (, November 20, 1998.

Didn't you know those black helicopters are spraying and spreading the flu over the population? I cought a cold, they're at it again in our area!

"I just have this gut feeling (paranoia?) about some of the questions that have been asked on this forum lately. It's like...questions being asked, not to get an answer, but to see what the most extreme reactions are."----------------------------------------------------------------------- Every forum attracts/collects/encourages trolls, and I'm surprised this one has seen so few of them. Being a lurker of long standing, I've seen trolls on other forums (c.s.y2k and GN, for example) spark huge flame wars just by mentioning guns. The folks here are downright civilized. But yes, Kevin, me four. It does appear that someone is setting up straw men just to see what the reaction is. Doesn't have to be ATF. Could be a New York Times reporter and even Ed, gauging public opinion. Just my two coppers worth.

-- troll warning (, November 21, 1998.

It's not that, Nurse Lady. I've had the flu shot, and the pneumonia shot too, plus I take 16 meds a day (Dr.'s orders), so no self respecting bug would dare come after this old beat up carcass anyway. Except, of course, the really tough one coming up.

The blackbirds? There's a nest of them not too far away from hometown USA, doing whatever it is that they do. Mostly at night, whatever it is.

No, this is more a 'ripple in the force' to the star wars types, or the feeling you get when you "see" a flicker of movement out of the corner of your eye and there's nothing there. Just a nuance really.

Sorry to hear about the cold though, you did seem a bit stuffed up in your typing. Perhaps you should see your nurse about it?

S.O. B.

-- sweetolebob (La) (, November 21, 1998.

Maybe the real underlying thing here is paranoia. If your really that concerned about black helicopters, and secret agents lurking about on this BB, then I would quit posting here or anywhere else on the internet. Oh yea, I forgot one more item to get rid of, your ATM and credit cards, they know where you have been and how much you spent. I think I'm just going to become one of those lurkers for now on, I just know they are after me.

-- bardou (, November 21, 1998.

Dear Bardou, I'm paranoid and so I am I.

-- . (.@...), November 21, 1998.

Feelings of being watched..yes, I have that too. Nothing specific, just that there could be something there.. someone. No tangible objective evidence, not even any tangible subjective evidence, just the ghost of a whiff of something that's probably my imagination.

As for our society: Kip Kinkel and those other killers, and the fact that other kids have been caught PLANNING to carry out similar massacres..that scares me. In fact, it terrifies me. What sort of culture has this happen? What sort of society allows 15-year olds to massacre their classmates (I know Kinkel only killed 1 guy, but the others killed more) and the next day forgets about it because Danni Minogue has a new hairdo that deserves front page news instead? I've said it before and I say it again, our society is near collapse. Y2k is only going to be a trigger.

Dear .@..: They're coming to take me away ho ho, hee, hee, to the funy farm you see.. ho, ho, hee, hee. I hear and see those black helicopters again, and that clinking noise on my phone, the surges of electricity has blown a fuse, and THERE'S A KNOCK ON MY DOOR!!!! HELP, IT'S THE MEN DRESSED IN BLACK!!!!

Bobbi said: * No. Our kids are being trained by our own government. *

While the brains of our children are developing they learn very quickly. They can learn several languages simultaneously without much difficulty. But.

But their little brains are exposed to TV for hours every day. Before the government gets a hold of their minds, their minds are set by Hollywood....

"Violence on television, blah, blah, ..." Every year there are announcements (when there is a lull in disaster sujects to report?) that violence on the tele is harmful to the children. Then nothing is done about it and the TV programs only become more bizzare. Why is that?

The causes of our problems are not removed. Everything gets plastered with band-aids while the wounds continue to rot.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson went on a camping trip. After a good meal and a bottle of wine they lay down for the night, and went to sleep.

Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudging his faithful friend, said:"Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see."

Watson said: "I see millions and millions of stars."

Holmes: "And what does that tell you?"

Watson: "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Theologically, it tells me that God is great and that we are small. Meteorologically, it tells me that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?"

Holmes: "Watson, you idiot. Somebody stole our tent."

My kids are university students. My daughter just graduated and my son finished first year pre-med. I bored them to death with y2k, but they thought about it. Might be the last year to travel, etc. so my son took the year off and went to Australia. My daughter to Thailand. Perfect. The 20-25 year olds are not thinking of militia. If yours are, then you all need help.

-- Rick Reilly (, November 26, 1998.

Rick, i'm happy for your children. You and your wife have done a great job.

The educational system and "culture" does not stimulate the development of imagination and individuality. For too long, most activities of the children has been coached, guided or controlled in some way. This leads to groupthink.

Little examples:

I saw the "teacher's" manual (Goals 2000) for a course taught for high school seniors. It was a totally asinine. It was written in dialogue form including what the teacher had to say for each class period. The expected anwers were also included. One lesson was on how to mix drinks.

Do you know how many different types of music and melodies have been composed and written throughout the world over the centuries. Some make you cry, some make you march and some make you bounce with joy. Compare this what is forced on us day in, day out, for years and decades - in elevators, in offices, on radios, in restaurants and shopping centers. And if you don't like you can only plug your ears.

Maybe this won't develop a Red Guard, or a Hitler Youth but when the economy bombs, groupthink will lead to some undesirable organization (s).

Okay, this is a 'different' thread to say the least. My children attend public school, went from Catholic to public for behavior reasons. They have NOT learned anything!!! When schools begin to pass out condoms and ban teachers from speaking to our children in love to instruct that was and still is my 1st clue. I recently was summoned to my sons school for his behavior. Unknown to me, it was a 'team' meeting (never had those when i went there) After about 7 teachers all related to me how 'johnny' was acting and were done presenting themselves, it was my turn. me "okay, it is obvious my johnny is a problem, but tell me what am I supposed to do? Our precious government will put me in jail if i take him home and give him the 'switch' off a hickory tree like i used to get. If i warm him up, i go to jail, or if johnny feels froggy 696-kids hotline works for him, So bottom line I cant give him what he deserves, and NEITHER can u.....NOW WHAT?" My point why the meeting? We as parents have "big brother" on our backs at ALL times, schools have taught 'johnny' to report mommy if she gives him what he deserves, (Not that i didnt anyhow). So I tell my young men, 17 and 14, "I'm fixing to beat your !!@@SS right now, so if you want to call 696-kids to report me, there's the phone. When they come and cart me off in handcuffs REMEMBER one thing....I will certainly Bond out of jail, but you will then be in the hand of Social Workers in a foster home, what is worse? BTW, here is the phone I'll dial the number for you". Sound Extreme? What am I too Do? I see the looks on the teacher's faces at the school, they are EXHAUSTED. The kids talk back and cuss them out and one recently told me "i'm nothing but an underpaid babysitter." Sad? BLAME UNCLE SAM. our Government took away the rights not me.
