I NEED A MENTOR

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poetry : One Thread

I'm putting together a book of poetry as a project. I need an established poet or someone who has studied a lot of poetry to be a mentor for me. Can anyone help or put me in the right direction?

The following web site has an index of poets and biographical information and lots of their poems. Why not just go through the index and choose some that you have heard of? Another good approach would be to choose just a small number of poets and read up about their lives. Poems mean a lot more when you know something about the lives of the people who wrote them, and most biographies will mention poems that you can include. Here's a few suggestions to get you going:

Wordsworth, Shelley, Tennyson, Browning, T.S. Eliot, Dylan Thomas
