Which Printer: Epson Stylus Photo 700 or Epson Stylus 740?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi, Can anybody tell me which Printer I should buy: Epson Stylus Photo 700 or Epson Stylus 740? I want really good photoquality comparable to the prints I get in the foto-studio. But I also need a printer for text. Is there a chance to get satisfying quality with the Epson Stylus 740 or do I need the Stylus 700 Photo.

Thanks for answers.

The 700 Photo will do MUCH better on photos, and should still do decently on text, since its resolution is basically the same as the 740. The biggest difference will probably be that the 700 will be a fair bit slower than the 740.

I have both Epson printers (700 Photo & 740) Both are great printers. But when you print bitmaps (photos), the 700 Photo in the super micro-weave and good photo paper configuration, is simply outstanding. The dots are almost invisable, espcially the light cyan and magenta dots from the 6 color inkjet head.
