Sunflower Seeds

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I was given 20 lbs of sunflower seeds. Are they worth doing anything with and how can they be shelled easily for use in quantity. I don't like thinking they are just something to open and nibbled on, one at a time while watching (non existant) television.

Thanks for any instructions.

Floyd,

Sunflower seeds are great for sprouting and for greens. Suggested uses are for salad dressings, cheeses, milks, sprout loaves, breads, candies, desserts, and salads.

You can get sprouting info off the internet or a good book source is "The Sprouting Book" by Ann Wigmore. She also has another beneficial book, "The Wheatgrass Juice Book".
