Any of you worried about the government coming and confiscating your supplies? What plans do you have in place to stop them or anyone else from stealing or confiscating your goods?

A prepared and well informed community is the key to illegal government intrusion. A community in solidarity has the power through constitutional means, even if our constitution is suspended. Civil disobedience, and other non-violent means are very powerful. If that should fail after repeated efforts, plan B would go a step further. A community watchdog patrol that would shadow government intrusive tactics. This would create additional pressure against the government without resorting to violence. These are just ideas. I'm too young to have experienced real government intrusion-martial law from WW11. However I've read the accounts from our WW11 veterans, our heros. Men and women who have shown me how communities either fight or sink in defeat. I can't say I have the answers, but these accounts of history, prove to me, a strength in numbers is the answer to thwart military raids. More importantly RIGHT NOW, begin organizing your communities.

The idea of martial law under Y2k scenarios presents problems in its very attempt to keep peace. Y2k does not discriminate. The Department of Defense is in big Y2k trouble. Sure the military is going to be better prepared, but the idea of mobilizing enough troops for a national martial law scenario remains unanswered. I believe that military towns might be able to enforce martial law, but the number of citizens to troops is far greater.

A community in numbers has a greater chance of creating peace. Martial law will not work, if a community in solidarity joins together. A community can feed its needy, warm the frigid, and care for the elderly. A community can mobilize the youth to make a real contribution. Their contribution could be the very watchdogs I've mentioned. Youth today, are bored sick with an education system that doesn't educate. They lack guidence and vision due to the high divorce rate. Give our youth something exciting. Provide guidence, goals, and vision, and youth will do anything for us.

Now to discuss community within large and small urban centers. The Y2k learning curve is a priority that needs to be addressed. How should communities come together without knowing the Y2k problem. It's a difficult challenge within contrasting socio-economic differences.

Those who greet poverty on a daily basis know how draining a challenge this can be. It leaves little time for preparation. On the other hand, the lower class tends to be Y2k educated. The materialistic class on the other hand, probably wouldn't see God slapping Y2k in their face. I separate this class from those middle, and upper class economic backgrounds who genuining see a problem, who make efforts to educate themselves and others, and who help their friends and neighbors to become Y2k savvy.

Here is one idea that can be helpful. Recruit a webmaster in your community to build a Y2k city webpage. Organize community meetings, and start the education process. Create T-shirts. Our designer created a humorous T, having rich, earth colors, ambers, yellows, and browns. It reads, " Y2Kuckoo, Singing Sweetly When The Chips Are Down," with a logo of a singing rooster. Other ideas? Organize parties, concerts, and fundraisers, and bumper stickers. This helps subsidize the cost factor. Here are some bumper sticker ideas. "Wake Up To Y2k." (phone number included) Our representative handling food storage, created a yellow bumber sticker that reads, "Store Food Now!" These stickers get attention. People ask me about Y2k often.

As your numbers grow, start a letter writing campaign to your city and state governments. These leaders need to be awakened. A letter writing campaign is very helpful. Write letters, good old fashioned pen and ink. This gets their attention. We in Tucson have a webpage all of you can browse. (See address at bottom) We recently held the first Tucson forum, which made the 10:00 news leading report. It was small in comparison to Atlanta (8000 attendees) Portland (3000attendees) *Approximate estimations.* Our attendance barely reached 140, but atleast the forum was a beginning. After the forum our attendence jumped to eighty.

The TucsonYear2000Center has been in existence since February of last year. The meetings have been growing, Still though lots of work remains. Tucson has 800,000 sleeping people, but atleast our attendence is up to 80. I'd like to see the meetings top 2000. Then word of mouth sets in, like a good old fashioned successful Hollywood movie, there's nothing like word of mouth.

This is very good-news, but an educated community hoping to a quash militarized society needs to grow exponentially. I see this happening, but slowly. Check out the web page for ideas. Help mobilize your community and link to us.
