How to upload jpg files to Olympus D220L?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I would like to be able to upload a jpg file I created to an Olympus D220L camera and use the TV output for a presentation. Olympus software supports uploading to the camera, BUT only if the image was originally captured with the camera, otherwise error messages result.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Carey Witkov witkov@ibm.net

This is a persistent question/issue - if anyone reading this has the answer, MANY people would appreciate hearing it. I've speculated that the apps like Photoshop, etc don't completely adhere to the EXIF format standard that the cameras use. OTOH, it could just be that the very limited processing ability the cameras possess can't handle the least tweak on how they're expecting to see the files. Whatever the case, this result is unfortunately typical...

I do not have an OLY, but I can do this with My Ricoh rdc-4200 using the flashpath floppy adapter for transferring files. Not sure if this would work with the OLY though. Just a suggestion which u may have already tried. good luck..

Carey; Some cameras need to have a prescribed file name along with the EXIF- JPEG format. The FUJI MX2900 requires a file name of DSCFnnnn.JPG. You might note the file name of the Olympus downloaded image. With that, you still will not be able to upload a PHSHP image. I have posted a query on this site looking for conversion software. Good luck. Roger

If you are feeling adventurous, you might try a program like JpegDump to see what the file looks like, then a program like cjpeg to attempt to reproduce another like it (identical filename, dimensions, quality factor, etc).
