I doubt that very much. I only know of one person who is allergic to some cats and not to Maine Coons. Better test this out with a visit to a breeder/owner of MCs.

I am very surprised to find nothing official has been posted on this issue as this was the very factor which resulted in our obtaining an MC. My girlfriend has allergies to the majority of animals - including ' normal ' cats but a colleague informed her that Maine Coons were indeed different and certainly worth investigating. After visiting a household with an MC and suffering no reaction whatsoever we joined a waiting list for a kitten. We have had our MC for 2 years now and there has been no hint of an allergic reaction so I would recommend visiting a household with one before writing off this potential attribute.
