Toshiba PDR-M1 or Fuji MX-700 PAL Output????

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I'm planning to buy either a Toshiba PDR-M1 or a Fuji MX-700 in the U.S. as the prices here in Holland are absolutely outrageous (almost double for some camera's!). Problem is that I don't know whether any of these camera's supports PAL Video output. Is these somebody with a PDR-M1 or a MX-700 with information about this?

Any other suggestions for a megapixel with PAL support?

Thanks,

Michiel

Can't say about the Fuji MX-700, but as to the PDR-M1, some versions support PAL, some don't. The review unit we received could switch between NTSC and PAL, and we reported accordingly. Lo & behold though, the production units in the US *don't* support PAL. Don't know what the status of European units would be, but would think it likely, given the dominance of PAL in that region. (The Japanese units support both PAL and NTSC.)

Hope this helps, good luck.

My Fuji MX-700 refers to the "PAL or NTSC model" when explaining video out, and it mentions no way to switch between them. You might try to find a US supplier who can order you a PAL model. ‰

I bought a Toshiba PDR-M1 through Harmony Computers last Sept and used it in Hong Kong last month. It does support both NTSC & PAL output.
