If anyone has had experience with running SQL server on an Alpha Server, have you run into problems with opening databases that were created with I386 SQL Server.

The two backup formats are incompatible. You should use the transfer manager functionality to move data between platforms. (Or use character mode BCP to transfer tables.)

DEC Alpha

Thanks Eric, for your reply.

I was wondering specifically if you or anyone else may have experience with running a client server platform with an HP Netserver acting as the Application server and the DEC Alpha being the database server. We are having problems with accessing some test databases that were originally created on the i386 SQL platform,on the Alpha MS SQL.
