Mr. Cowles,

I apologize for not reading the e-mail on finding information on Electric Companies. The report is called a 10Q. None of the cities in my areas have filed one according to the search engine. What does that mean for our cities.

If your utility is a public corporation that issues public stock or bonds etc. then they do not have to file. This is unlikely. It most likely that your local utility has not yet filed its most recent 10Q form or that your utility is part of another utility which is filing under a different name. Call your utility and ask for "investor realations" and they should lead you in the right direction.

Actually, it's the other way around. If the utility is publicly held they must file a 10Q. Although many have released their quarterly financial information they may not yet have filed with the SEC. Look for them in the next week or so.

For the most part, the only electric companies filing SEC disclosures in 10Q's or 10K's are investor owned utilities whose securities are traded in the stock market.

The following types of electric companies probably won't have SEC disclosures:

1) Municipally owned power companys 2) Electric power cooperatives 3) Privately owned electric companies 4) Government owned companies (such as TVA, BPA, etc.) 5) Any other "not for profit" or member owned type of electric company.

(Did I miss anything?)

Hope this helps.

Yes of course. Sorry for the inclusion of the inappropriate "not" above in defining 10Q reqirements.

Here's the url for the Edgar reports database. http://www.edgar-online.com/

Peco Energy has just lodged their report dated 2nd November. Others likewise.

Is there a list/website of power utilities who would be putting their reports there.

I found the Edgar database to be a bit overwhelming.

This url: http://www.progsys.com/yardeni/Y2KFind.asp

lets you type in the parent company's name and pulls up ONLY the Y2K info, also- it has an interactive database that lets you narrow down your search, that's how I found People's Gas, it was listed under People's Energy (sneaky!)
