SEC Searches for Utility companies

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

I noticed messages on finding the status of utilities through the Sec.gov site. I went to the site, keyed in names of utility companies in my area and all I got was a listing of bond filings. Are the status messages on Y2K buried in these or is there a specific form to look for in the list.

Hi Jeff, it's my understanding that it's a 10Q filing you should look for and that it's only the most recent October filings which were SEC mandated to contain Y2K issues. Some of these reports have not been filed yet, or not posted to the edgar site. Some companies addressed Y2K issues in their earlier filings but they didn't HAVE to then. I may be wrong about this, and if so, someone please correct me! If I am correct, then we're going to have to wait a while longer for all the reports to be in.

You're right, Bonnie. Look for 10Qs over the next week or so in the Edgar database. They've changed their search screen so you can search only for 10Qs, 10Ks, etc. Makes it a bit easier. You can also check Ed Yardeni's web site. He's been accumulating the relevant portion of filings making it simpler to find what you're looking for. Go to:
