Y2K Weatherman

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just received my daily email from the Y2K Weatherman and it sounds like he has revised his opinion about Y2K. I read just two weeks ago a report where Sen. Bennett said his daughter is storing food in the garage. Then I read that he feels like things are not going to be that bad. Has this all been a hoax, are we being manipulated. I would really like to know what is going on. The very people that felt Y2K was going to be severe are now seeming to feel otherwise. It is hard to know what to do to prepare or not prepare. Does anyone else get this impression.

Linda, If you think that the people who were not optimistic have all changed their minds, go to

www.kiyoinc.com/prvwrp8.html

and www.kiyoinc.com/prvwrp7 and then

www.kiyoinc.com/current.html

preferrably in that order. Read a few of Cory's posts from each of the sites, especially including #99. THEN, go to the "/current.html" site and read #100. I GAARR-UN-TEE you will not feel that way anymore. Cory has been one of the more rational, careful, not really gloom-ish folks out here. Looks like he has seriously changed for the darker.

I kinda wonder what changed his mind?

A lot of people are becoming more optimistic about y2k What do they know that we don't!

Richard,

Having a fire in a crowded theater is a real life threat. However, if everyone paniced, the threat of getting trampled on your way out is greater than the fire itself.

What's changed is that more folks now know it can't be fixed (fire) and they are now more concerned about preventing the panic.

Along those lines of panic... From abcnews.com a small article about panic, anxiety attacks..."the National Mental Health Association's awareness campaign will also encourage family physicians to be on the look out for signs of anxiety in their patients."

Also on the state of Texas y2k website under the heading of contingency planning they say this about The Texas Department of Mental Health and Retardation, "furthermore , the agency is encouraging local providers to be aware of the potential emothional impact that Y2K disruptions could pose for some citizens. see the Texas site at www.dir.state.tx.us/y2k/resources/Y2KGuide02.htm This is the Texas Guidebook2000,commissioned by our govenor. VERY interesting reading, looks like Texas is expecting the worst.
