I have a dream...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

As December 19 is not that far away, I thought we might have a discussion at that time about what "Titanic" has done/undone for each of us. It might be interesting to know what impact the movie had/has on us, after one year of cooling our minds off... If you want, "I'll just wait here (chained to the board)". I will watch the movie again, just before my mouth will hit this chat board again. Join me...for FREE and it should be interesting...We'll drink brandy, chew tobacco and talk Titanic...

"I can assure you it's quite appropriate..."

MOTTO (for the discussion): "Titanic was called the ship of dreams... and it was... it really was."

Is there room in this lifeboat for me? If so, pass the brandy and make room. Just tell me when and where this ship is leaving, and I will be on it!

Sign me up too, I'd love to have a discussion about what impact this movie has had on me.

-- Emma (dilemma76@hotmail.com), November 04, 1998.

Count me in too!

-- Courtney (greenlane@sprint.ca), November 04, 1998.

Hang on, I have a dream too . . . My dream is to meet each and every great person I've met through all these rooms, like the TitanicShack and Mr Showbiz. We could all get together and hire out some massive cinema with fantastic surround sound and watch the movie together then go out for an iced chocolate afterwards and yak about it. How's that sound?

-- Emma (dilemma76@hotmail.com), November 04, 1998.

Oh gee, speaking of watching Titanic again, I realized that I haven't touched my copy yet! It's standing on top of my desk for display. =P I think I'm hoping to keep it in mint condition. =)

(sigh) just thinking about the first time I saw Titanic brings back so many memories. Sigh....

Count me in, too! And come to think of it, it does bring back memories....I remember when....

-- Kelly (foo@bar.com), November 04, 1998.

I'll pencil y'all in...just let me talk to the husband...LOL!

I'm sure he'll be there bearing tofu sandwiches...

-- Gilded Age Junkie (gildedagejunkie@yahoo.com), November 05, 1998.

December 19 is on a Saturday. Would 11:00 pm ET be alright? Or should we push it one day, to December 20? Suggestions are welcome...

-- Dan Draghici (ddraghic@sprint.ca), November 05, 1998.

Oops, if the 19th falls on a Saturday, I'll be there in spirit guys.

And Gilded, if you could, tell BobG to keep the tofu at home ;-)

I remember the first time I saw it too, I hadn't heard too much about it. I went to see it mid-January (during my work holidays) with mum and I was enthralled the entire time. I've never cried in a movie as much as I cried during this one. I went to the bathroom afterwards and every person in there had red eyes.

Ems! We can't do it without you! Let's work something out... how 'bout Sunday Dec 20th? It'll be a Monday Down Under, right?

-- Rose (rose347@juno.com), November 05, 1998.

If there are no tofu sandwiches, please ensure there are garlic, onion, or fish ones. Thank you. Management

-- BobG (rgregorio@ibm.net), November 05, 1998.

i think Sunday the 20th will be a lot easier on most people. (With the holidays and all).

If Bob is bringing garlic, onion or fish, I want a seat on the other side of the lifeboat! Did they have breath assure in 1912? No word from Dan Dalton yet. Maybe he will be kind enough to grace us with his presence?

-- Misty (HiRver@concentric.net), November 05, 1998.

Sunday the 20th is better for me, and plus then Emma can be there too!!! I'll bring tuna (fish) sandwiches BobG and a Caesar Salad with lots of garlic. Mmmm....

-- Courtney (greenlane@sprint.ca), November 06, 1998.

Onion Rings!

-- Misty (HiRver@concentric.net), November 06, 1998.

Let it then be Sunday, December 20, 11:00PM ET. Should we use the Wintechallenge Chat Board? Has Allison become JAVA enabled? For more privacy I could even suggest my para chat board from my own website.

We'll have some fun. I have a bottle of French wine (no, not from Dr. Ballard's expeditions... "Sorry to dissapoint you, Mr.Baudine"). I kept it for the day I would find a job here in Canada. But as I am forced to go on welfare instead thanks to the Canadian job market (who cares of my three master degrees, anyway?) I will be saving the wine for this event... I wish I could send you samples online... is there any new program for that? :)

Woo-hoo! December 20... "Take her back to sea, Mr. Murdoch. Let's strech her leggs."

Ta-na-na...na-na-na...!

-- Dan Draghici (ddraghic@sprint.ca), November 06, 1998.

Oh, so it's tofu and onion rings now? We're over the cigar and whiskey?

-- Rose (rose347@juno.com), November 07, 1998.

I'll bring the Listerine...

-- Gilded Age Junkie (gildedagejunkie@yahoo.com), November 07, 1998.

I'll bring the condoms.

-- Bob (foo@bar.com), November 07, 1998.

This should be interesting. Onion Rings, Tofu, Listering, Wine and Condoms. I will definately be there for this.

I think winterchallenge is fine, but if everyone is java enabled, we could use your para chat board for more privacy. Anyone still not java enabled? Speak now!

-- Misty (HiRver@concentric.net), November 08, 1998.

I prefer the term "java-challenged". And I am, unfortunately.

-- Bob (bob@bob.bob), November 08, 1998.

I think the Winterchallenge Chat Board would be better, especially when there are many people. My parachat page is fast, but maybe too fast if there are more than three people at a time. However, I will post here both web adresses in order to avoid later inquiries:

Wow, I feel so special now guys & gals. Thanks for making the date the Sunday so I can join in :-)

Just quickly, I went into the Winter Challenge Room this morning and it seems to be playing silly buggars. It only shows a few posts, I'm not sure if they just refreshed it or something but I tried to show 100 old messages and the last 3 showed up and that was it. I hope it fixes itself.

-- Emma (dilemma76@hotmail.com), November 08, 1998.

Winterchallenge seems to be fixed now. We can't very well chat without Bob, so Winterchallenge seems to be the best place to be. Se you all there.

-- Misty (HiRver@concentric.net), November 09, 1998.

Definately, please e-mail me and tell me where and when and i will definately be there.

-- Ian Rafferty (IRaff@compuserve.com), November 16, 1998.

For those of you who don't have the "Winter Challenge" address, it's:

http://chat.mrshowbiz.com/chat/chat.dll?room=winterchallenge
