RasterPlus '95 - long running-time?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Simple problem: shooting Powerpoint slides, 'straightforward text' or otherwise, to my Polaroid CI-5000 using NT 4.0 platform and RasterPlus '95, takes a very long time. Am using 64 MB RAM, with about 5GB spare on the hard-drive. Example: a roll of 36exp. took 3hrs., 26mins. A roll of 24 took 2hrs., 5 mins. These were PARTICULARLY long 'uns, I hasten to add, but even with other projects I am surprised at the slowness. A colleague upstairs has a similar, but non-Polaroid, set-up, and her slide-shooting takes only about 1 min. per slide. Comments? Thanks for any help, Matthew.

Sheesh! Those ARE long times!

Was your colleague running the same slides or different ones? (Not clear if the problem is with the film recorder or the slides themselves.) What are the slides like - Simple text? Fancy blends? Imported images? ??

Dave - many thanks. I'll come clean - the slides were all digital-camera-shot images (jpgs) on a plain white Powerpoint background. The temp file created to deal with them was about 150MB!... nor had the file been saved (just created on-screen). So this, perhaps, was a bad example to choose. What concerns me, though, is that even plain old text slides, from a saved file, have taken about three minutes or so per slide in the past. A typical pattern is that the RasterPlus races away on the first slide - shooting, say, the red band in only ten seconds or so, then fairly quickly slows until the third or fourth slide is taking minutes to complete. Many thanks, Matthew.
