Nikkor 50mm f1.4 + 27.5mm extension tube, 1/125s, flash on Fuji Provia II. I took this shot just after total sunset as an experiment because I am just starting to learn to use flash. All comments are welcome, but I am trying to learn so please make them constructive. Thank you, Jim

A little underexposed, but a pretty neat image.

You handled the flash well, as there are no apparent reflection hotspots from the flash. Good use of selective focus. Subject is just enough off plumb to make it interesting.

Keep up the good work.

The composition and selective focus are very nice but somehow it lacks sparkle and looks dull (on my monitor). You probably should photograph a whole series of this flower and use the flash in different angles (front-, side- and backlit) and bracket heavily (+/- 2 stops in 1/2 increments) to get the best look.
