Y2K Videos - anyone know of any?

Anyone know of any good Y2K videos - 30-60 minutes long. I would like to use this in our community meetings for the first 30-60 minutes for newcomers to Y2K and then start the regular information/networking meetings after. Sheri

Yes. First Ed & Jennifer Yourdon will be releasing one on Nov 15 called "Year 2000 Home Preparation Guide" ($19.95, 58 minutes). See the following link for more details:

For those who really want to research the problem further, I highly recommend the C-SPAN tape of the June 2 session at the Center For Strategic and International Studies. The tape is $90 which may seem a bit expensive but well worth it. I don't have the link handy but will try to post it later. Be advise the CSIS website has transscripts of the session available for free. (also apparently some streaming video there as well). The CSIS web site is at:

World Net Daily has a video available:

Their web site is http://www.worldnetdaily.com

Also: they regularly post Y2K news alerts and stories ina separate section from the political news. Caveat, soemtimes "you'll read it here first" though. (P.S. I haven't reviewed the video, won't be able to comment on quality or accuracy.)

This newly released video is designed to provide insight into the Year 2000 Computer Problem [Y2K] and outlines specific actions that can be taken as Individual & Community Preparedness to minimize the Potential Adverse Effects of Y2K which can result in the Loss of Commercial Utilities [Electricity. Gas. Water. Sewer], Disruption of City & Public Services [Trash Pick-Up. Police & Fire Protection. Ambulance and Other Emergency Medical Services], Shortage of Food & Other Emergency Essentials.

In July 1977, New York City went dark. The blackout lasted from 5 to 25 hours, depending on the area of the city. During that time, 2000 stores were looted, and hundreds more were burned to the ground. At least 3700 people were arrested.

This video explains the Year 2000 Computer Problem and leads you through steps to deal with it: How to Hook-Up and Operate an Emergency Stand-By Power Electrical Generator. How to Store Food. How to Purify Water. How to Mobilize Your Church, Community - and much more.

Even if the Y2K problem is no worse than an extended blackout, you will have peace of mind throughout. This valuable information will help you to become Totally Self-Sufficient in any emergency.

There is Home Insurance, Car Insurance, Flood & Earthquake Insurance, Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Liability Insurance -- and just about every other imaginable type of insurance -- so why are so many people avoiding the subject of "SELF-PREPAREDNESS INSURANCE"? Hopefully, you can help educate and do others a great favor by obtaining and showing this video to individuals and groups.

"Surviving The Year 2000" was written and produced by Jack Cashill, PhD and is narrated by Jim Lord of Westergaard 2000.
