Nevada utilities

Looks like the lights will be on in Nevada, at least according to this story, though I wouldn't say it's "chocked full o'facts"...

Jeff, saying that story isn't "chocked full o'facts" is rather an understatement. There are NO facts, except that one company started working on the problem in 1994. That may be good, or not. The Social Security Administration started in 1989 and still isn't done. When a business begins their remediation doesn't really tell us anything. How much time they need to FINISH the job and whether that time frame will end before or after Jan.1, 2000, is what matters.

Also, notice that in the sentence, "The Nevada utilities have reassured state regulators that they are eliminating computer snags.." the operative word is "are", meaning they're not done yet. Almost every major business is America is working on eliminating Y2K problems, but the only assurance that counts is "We're finished and tested out fine." After that, knowing that your suppliers are also stating, "We're finished, too" is the only way a business can breathe easy.

If I lived in Nevada I wouldn't be ready to celebrate just based on this report. I'd want to know a lot more.
