I can4t get my PC to detect my powershot A5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

When I bougt the camera it came with a connectioncord with a 9pin serial port plug. but i'm connecting it to the printer port through adaptors. I just can't get the PC to detect the camera. I have tried all thinkable ways.

If it's a serial cable, why are you connecting it to the printer port? This is probably your problem. Try connecting it to your COM port.

I had the same problem. The Australian Canon support people advised me that "sometimes" the TWAIN driver gets confused and you have to select the PS600 instead of the A5. Bingo it worked. However I had to re-install the software, and would you believe it, it worked as it was supposed to do. I expected a bit more from a company like Canon.

Best of luck.

Correction To My Lasy Reply The alternate selection is "Powershot 350", not the "600" as stated.

Sorry Brian
