Great photo Peter, DOF is great, only suggestion I can offer is that maybe chaging the view point to a higher position to include the whole frog. I like the lines of the leaf.

Well done, Peter G. The light looks fairly diffuse and the palmetto frond frames the subject nicely. Check your notes and give us the specs;)

Notes? You make me laugh, Alex. Here's my best recollection, so take it for what it's worth. Sigma 180 5.6 macro, Velvia. It was late afternoon, so this guy was in deep shade. I remember stopping way down, so it was probably f22 or 32. Exposure was probably metered with spot on the frog, exposure was manual at > 1 sec. Can't give you specifics without making them up. I don't think I used fill flash on this one, though I did on a couple of other shots of this beast.

I like macros that include some closely associated part of the environment. I wonder if a lower and more frontal perspective would show up the eye better.
