RFC: New B&W World Discussion Forum?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

This is a Request for Comments (RFC) for a new discussion forum for Black & White World:

Name of proposed forum: Photo Education Roundtable

Purpose: To provide a forum where photography educators (teachers, administrators, university level program chairs, etc.), photo students and photographic manufacturers and distributors with programs designed for education can exchange information, share info with each other and trade ideas which would improve the overall level of photographic education on all levels.

The main benefit for manufacturers would be an opportunity to communicate with and get feedback from teachers and students that can help them improve their education programs and services.

For teachers and students, this would be an opportunity to find out what is available through manufacturers, as well as a place to share ideas about how to teach and learn photography.

Although this would be part of B&W World, this forum would not be limited to Black & White photography.

Please post your responses here. Your comments, ideas etc. are welcome. I'll probably make a decision sometime in November.

Cheers, Mason Resnick Editor/Publisher, Black & White World

Personally I have no problem with this new forum. Would it be a good place for neophytes to ask basic questions?

It sounds as if it is aimed at photographic education (learning and teaching), rather than the actual process of photography. Maybe not of interest to me (being neither educator nor student), but don't let that stop you.

As a student of photog. (part time) it sounds great! I'd love to see what manufactures have to say (and to offer). It will be interesting to see how it develops. It does have the possibility of becoming another "how to" forum however.
